The Opportunity:

We're hiring a Finance Associate/Manager to join help our Finance team get sharper on accounting, financial reporting and getting involved in the day-to-day operations of the business. This role reports to the Chief of Staff. We are looking for someone who has worked in the Finance function of a technology company and is excited to leverage AI to build and scale a finance function.

The Role

  • In the first 30 days, you'll quickly get up to speed on the business, our finance stack and our financial reporting. You'll work closely with the Chief of Staff to do financial reporting, budget vs actual reporting, software spend analysis, runway forecasting, accounting (revenue & expense recognition), GL recoding and following up on receipts and invoices.
  • By 60 days into the role, you'll be supporting on sales & GTM analysis and operations that impact the finance side of Nexl including pipeline analysis, commission calculations and SaaS metrics analysis and reporting.
  • By 90 days, you'll be supporting the Chief of Staff on Board reporting and other adhoc strategic analysis.
  • Within your first year and after you're across the financials and proven to be a safe pair of hands, you'll have the opportunity to support on fundraising and M&A.

Key Responsibilities:

  • AI First Mindset: Leverage AI and technology to automate key areas of the finance function.
  • Financial Reporting: Support on financial reporting including budget vs actuals reporting, variance analysis, cash forecasting and spend management.
  • Accounting: Revenue & expense recognition, GL recoding, invoices & receipt follow-ups/
  • Reconciliation Tasks: Support on monthly reconciliation.
  • Financial Modelling: Utilise Excel, Power BI, and other IT systems for strong financial modelling to support decision-making.
  • Operations & Process Improvement: Contribute to the continuous improvement of finance processes and procedures, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.

  • Financial Modelling: Proficiency in financial modelling using Excel, Power BI, and other IT systems.
  • Operational Support: Experience in performing operational finance tasks, including reconciliation and processing payments.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and precision in financial activities and reporting.
  • Problem-Solving: Innovative and effective solutions to address financial challenges.
  • Collaboration: Effective partnership with cross-functional teams to achieve shared objectives.

  • Process Improvement: Continuous refinement of financial processes and systems for efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in accounting or finance, consulting, banking or in the finance function of a technology company.
  • University degree in Finance or Accounting or related discipline;
  • Successful completion of an accounting designation is preferred (CA or CPA);
  • Good understanding of AASB and IFRS;
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office tools especially Excel (PowerBI is a bonus).
